HAUNTED NORFOLK ISLAND

The Convict Store, now a museum, is one of the most well known haunted sites on Norfolk Island. It is believed that a ghost haunts the area in and around the store. Who the ghost is, is unknown. Some Islanders say that ghost is a solider from convict days; others say it is a convict who drowned on the island.

One Norfolk resident had an interaction with a ghostly figure that walked down the stairs of the Convict Store. When he reported the creepy experience to authorities; he was shown a report detailing the same experience had by a local police officer several weeks earlier.

The Convict Store has now been transformed into one of the four museums on Norfolk Island. As part of our Norfolk Island Ghost Tour, visitors will receive a museum pass that allows them access to all museums on the island- Commissariats Store, no. 10 Quality Row, Pier Store and the HMS Sirius Museum in which artefacts of Australia’s most important shipwreck are displayed. The museums are located in World Heritage Listed Kingston and are an absolute must see on Norfolk Island.

On the Norfolk Island Ghost Tour visitors will be taken on a ghost tour of Kingston at night – including a stop at the Convict to hear the ghost story. Visitors will get the chance to stand where the ghost appears.

The Norfolk Island Ghost Tour will be conducted by Jack Sim, Director of Ghost Tours. Who has been gathering stories from the islanders and local historians.
